Consumer Education Services, Inc. (CESI) offers a variety of learning tools and resources to help consumers better manage their finances and to achieve the goal of becoming debt free.
Consumers are able to take advantage of our free online courses. The Debt Guard Financial Literacy Program and Money Smart programs offer self-paced instructional sessions. Both will assist consumers with the necessary skills to improve their financial management skills that include debt management, credit cards, budgeting, and debt. Information on credit, debt, budgeting and other financial topics is available.
Additional educational resources include our personal financial calculator, consumer credit literacy, our monthly newsletter The CESI Connection , the makingCHANGE financial literacy program, Money In Motion and Spending on Main Street.
Community Outreach Program
CESI has in place a strong Community Outreach program that includes an on-site Learning Center and Library equipped with computers and free financial resource materials available for check out.
Partnerships have been formed with local colleges and universities, including Fayetteville State University, Methodist College, the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and Fayetteville Technical Community College. On site workshops focus on helping college students learn how to avoid the “credit card trap” as well as teach them budgeting skills to better manage their personal finances. CESI also conducts workshops at the local schools targeting students from elementary through high school.
The Junior Achievement Program was successfully re-established in the Cumberland County School Systems due to CESI’s coordinator and volunteer efforts.
CESI was the recipient of the Cathy Hughes Business Community Service Award during the 4th Annual Lamplighter Awards program sponsored by Radio Station 103.9 The Light.
